Submission guidelines
We invite you to share your original artwork in response to the prompt:
"In a time of destruction, create something."
Submitted works will be displayed on our website and selected works will be included in a physical exhibition being planned for October.
Eligibility
Submissions are open to all local artists and creators, regardless of age or experience.
All media are welcome: paintings, sculpture, photography, video, textiles, poetry, mixed media, digital art, etc.
Guidelines for Submission
Original Work Only: You must be the creator of the submitted work. By submitting, you confirm that the work is your own and does not infringe on anyone else’s rights.
Ownership and Rights: You retain full ownership and copyright of your work. Your art will be displayed on our website and in our exhibition, but it will not be used in any other way without your express permission.
Content Standards:
No depictions of violence against individuals or groups will be accepted.
Foul or offensive language is permitted only when it is clearly necessary to the artistic message and presented in a context that promotes understanding or reflection.
Works should contribute to a respectful political dialogue. Art that incites hatred, discrimination, or dehumanization will not be considered.
Respectful Dialogue: We seek pieces that give form to difficult truths and urgent questions while fostering empathy, courage, and constructive engagement.
Submission Requirements
A digital image or file of your artwork (JPG, PNG, PDF, MP4, or similar formats accepted)
A short description (100–200 words) of your work and how it relates to the theme
Your name, preferred contact information, and a short artist bio (optional)

Deadline
We don’t have one. But we are hoping to mount an exhibit in the fall. Summer is the perfect time to rev up your creative energies. You have the summer to work on your creations. it’s your creativity in the service of rejecting tyranny.

Art Rejects Tyranny (aka “ART”) collects only the data users provide when filling out the submission/volunteer form on this website. The data is used to facilitate communications between ART and the people who choose to provide their information, for the purposes of organizing, informing, promoting or otherwise furthering its mission of sharing local protest art and building a community of creative thinkers within the Northwest Connecticut region.
ART will never sell the data collected on its website, share it with other organizations or use it for any commercial purpose. ART reserves the right to retain the data in perpetuity, in order to communicate about possible future events.
