Fire and Ash

We the people didn't just roll over one morning in our rosy pasture and find ourselves in this spiraling mire. Although, privilege may be the deep sleep that inured us to our generational complicity and complacency.

Well, time to get our nails dirty; scrape down to all that lies behind the flag. We need to get comfortable with exposing our shared history and all the atrocities of today. Stop burying crimes, sacrificing the vulnerable and setting aside grave injustices for the hope of calming waters or sustaining our time at the tit. We need to rip the blindfold off so we can ignite a course correction and aim true toward the unfulfilled promise of our democracy.

Survival

All mankind share the same core drives. How they manifest, in what proportion and if used for good or harm, grows from the circumstances in which we exist. A visceral understanding of the universality of struggle for survival helps us begin to see why the weight rests differently across communities.

Medium: image montage, acrylic and textiles on canvas
